First I would like to say thank you to Terri Stewart for offering her gratitude last week. Between travel, connection issues, and health that day, I was unable to write.
I am still processing my trip to the Grand Canyon and today I am grateful for the perspective on life and connectedness my experience gave me. I was able to actually see the horizon bend and ponder my place in this vast life system Earth offers. I felt connected in my own insignificant way. All the responsibilities and worries of daily life melted away in the face of that ancient, yet ever changing, landscape. My little life seems to have so little impact on such vastness. And yet, I am the only me there is. I am grateful for this shrinking of my me-centric world.
It's like trying to describe what you feel when you're standing on the rim of the Grand Canyon or remembering your first love or the birth of your child. You have to be there to really know what it's like. --Jack Schmitt
