TGIF: Gratitude for Freedom

Today I am faced with many things beyond my control: the news, the health care system, and my disability.  Not that this is new.  It happens every day.  It's just that some days it is easier to remember that I am free. So today I am grateful for this opportunity to reflect on my gratitude and my freedom.  Though there are many things beyond my control and I sometimes feel tossed by the tornado that can be life, I am still free.  Free to choose and free to live.  It is my choice how I respond to the news and other factors beyond my scope of influence.  It is my choice to refuse the lie that destruction and obstacle are all there is.  I choose to live!  I choose life and freedom.  I am grateful.

"Between stimulus and response there is a space.

In that space is our power to choose our response.

In our response lies our growth and our freedom."  --Victor Frankl

Freedom! (The butterfly is a gift from my professor, Dr. Cunningham. The photo of it is my own.)
