shut as languor over-
takes my body like
dye racing up a cotton
sheath. the sheer silence
penetrating my essence with
crochet hooks pulling me
deeper.
silence
when i am present,
i hear the silence
of the humm of the dryer,
the laughter of children,
the snoring of the cat.
all the small,
silent sounds of life.
when i am present.
