Joy . . . in our children

Joy . . . in our children

At Montauk Point, Long Island, NY - circa 1972. This is why you were born: to silence me. Cells of my mother and father, it is your turn to be pivotal, to be the masterpiece. I improvised; I never remembered. Now it's your turn to be driven; you're the one who demands to know . . . Mother and Child, Louise Glück in The Seven Ages [recommended] And he ... He was a old soul with new story, zero at bone and marrow adhering to Conrad's dictum with little shocks and surprises in every sentence of his book wearing Truth as his dermis seeking tears, not blood And he, like all good art, marked me for the better. © 2018 photo and poem, Jamie Dedes (The Poet by Day and The BeZine)

JOY . . . in melting into timelessness

“Ah forever!" I said. "I have such a love of that word, forever." "Yes, it is a timeless word," he said, raising his mossy eyebrows as he looked at me. "Time is ours, but forever belongs to God, don't you think?” Anne Rice, Blood And Gold Some look East and some look West. Birthing and dying have their seasons. Sun and moon stand separate watch. Ebb tides dimple once smooth beaches. Dark storms rise, sunshine follows. Lightening strikes, sudden illumination. Thunder pounds, silence prevails. Nothing distracts your Westward gaze nor stirs my eyes from searching East, but the heart, a true compass, says east and west, yin and yang, all come melting into timelessness. © 2018, Jamie Dedes (The Poet by Day and The BeZine), All rights reserved

"Every day brings a choice, to practice stress or to practice peace." Joan Borysenko, the author of A Woman's Book of Life  a shadow walking in the quake of my steps a tattered pad and pen, old hands taking notes, random thoughts and oddly paced prayers, misspelling the past, scribbling the future in lines dim, ungrammatical, lacking any cadence in a waking moment, i amend the notes, seize the present, edit history, writing complete sentences, grammatically precise, organically composed, a latter-day revisioning © 2018, Jamie Dedes (The Poet by Day and The BeZine)
