Christianity, Post-a-Day, Religion, Spirituality

Well, an attempt at a close reading. Week 12 Theme:  God Restores the People Readings: Jeremiah 30-33 Noticings: 30:7 – steadfast G*d 30:11 – oh yay. 30:12 – oh. yay. again. 30:15 – G*d inflicts pain 31:3 – but G*d loves you anyway 31:9 – I don't understand why Ephraim is the first born 31:11 – the work has been done, Israel is ransomed 31:31-33 – another "new" covenant 32:8 – Jeremiah buys a field.  Really?  Shows hope/promise of returning to their land. 33:6 – G*d the healer 33:8 – G*d the forgiver 33:17-22 – Christians take seriously the promise that a Davidic descendent will be ...

Reminds me of the song "the Hills are Alive with the Sound of Music." 53:4-6 – atonement theology in spades.  Israel is the one that must pay the price to reconcile the people to G*d. 53:9 – really?  no violence and no deceit?  Moses, ...

Well, an attempt at a close reading. Week 12 Theme:  God Restores the People Readings: Isaiah 44-46, 49-50 Noticings: 44:3 – intense imagery.  Imagine water poured on hard baked desert ground.  It runs in the rivulets that goes into the cracks of the ground.  It takes a lot to move to not being thirsty any more. 44:22 – redemption! 44:24-26 – a nice if/them proposition.  If G*d made creation, then G*d will ensure that Jerusalem exists. 44:28 – it is so weird to think of Cyrus as G*d's shepherd 45:2-3 – what is the significance of doors of bronze and treasures of darkness? 45:5-6 – Cyrus i...
