I'm sitting in my living room on a cool-ish day trying to get inspired. It's cloudy, and I've been pretty much stuck inside recovering from a surgery three weeks ago. I was looking through my Facebook newsfeed when I ran across this picture. It's the Swannanoa River very near where I live. The picture is from 113 years ago. I was intrigued by the question, "Is it a photo or a painting?"

This reminds me of the old TV commercials--"Is it live or is it Memorex?"  The point was how close the recording sounded to the real voice, and you were supposed to be struck by the fact that you couldn't tell the difference. I could tell the difference then, and I can tell it now.

This photo is beautiful, but it's not nearly as gorgeous as the real river is. It's not nearly as comforting and relaxing as sitting by the river instead of my living room. It's Memorex, y'all. If you get a chance to get out in nature today, take it instead of looking at photographs.

God did an amazing job with creation.

We can only create replica models of the real thing.
