playing with god
double dutch
jump rope
swinging round
and round
the confusion of
ropes going up
and down and
both ropes circling in
contrary directions
beckoning
us to leap into the
flow
P.S. If double dutch jump rope can carry the metaphor of the divine, then watch this video and just think of all the ways the jumpers and jumpees are participating together! Then think of the divine and all the ways this corresponds. It is awesome!

I used to do well with just one rope, but my world fell apart and I lost all hope, when double Dutch started I quickly fled, because I was smart enough to know I was over my head!
me too! but at least your words carry a rhythm. 🙂
I really like this and how you have one and the same time invited and yet, how should I say, also asked in a rather fun way if one might make something a part and parcel to one’s life. Nicely done!

I completely was amazed at the analogy you used !! Having palyed this , i thought its all about being focussed and balanced .. but you are right .. thats the same we need to be in sync with God .. brilliant 🙂
Thank you! It actually came to me while we were discussing the sacraments in class. That the presence of the divine is always flowing, we just have to jump into it!
love jumping ropes when I was a kid,
lovely video.
wow.
A++
I never heard of double dutch until I was a teenager. I remember last summer on campus at Seattle University, there were some Muslim girls playing double dutch alongside girls that could only be categorized as secular. How could I tell? The Muslim girls were dressed in hijab. It was stunning to see how children can work together in the midst of world events.
The poem itself stands alone and the video does add a fantastic element! Wonderful piece ~ Rose
Thank you so much.
Beautiful comparison to all that faith can offer… particularly profound when doubling its powers.
Thank you. I think a metaphor of God as jump rope master is fun to explore.
