only love

Nightmare
Nightmare by Francesco Martini

if i could, i would
ease the melancholic
nightmares
that haunt your
mind.

if i could, i would
battle the
horrors
that bite at your
heels like starving
piranha.

if i could, i would
carry you away
to the land of
manna
and shelter you
from the unbearable.

if i could, i would
provide you with
water
that would douse
the fire burning
your soul.

if i could, i would
shoulder
it all.

but i can’t.  my
superpower is not
flight or safety
or strength of arm or
providence.

it is only
love.

The greatest superpower of all is love. You've got that right! Love conquers all.

It's the power of the roots. They look like they are doing nothing but they are growing strong and can eventually topple buildings!

The first para carried me away. You have expressed the true feelings of love...we try to do the impossible for our loved ones but in vain we are just humans..(but we keep trying :))

And yet, I firmly believe that love will carry the day. Even if we can't see the fruits of love's seeds.

Fantastic. I have wanted love to do all of what you have listed. It often does, but when it doesn't it frustrates, and thus the longing for super power. Thank you for sharing this - Very inspirational for me.

I have created, in my mind, Terri-land where all injustice is slayed, the grass is green, and bunnies lounge around. This is for when the frustration begins to be too much.

This was just beautiful! Love is the strongest superpower there is. However, it must be recognized and accepted for it to work.

Oh, delightful! It's mournful in a way...I see a mother holding a broken body in her arms for some reason. But out there, in the back, shifting through the net is another...her mother holding her through time. Hmmm. How much coffee have I had! But really, that's what I see. Wonderful poem.

What a wonderful vision! Maybe it leads to the divine feminine, holding her children.
