I really couldn’t believe it when I heard
The rainbow is placed in the sky
Not for the benefit of the world
But to remind you to keep your promise
The rainbow placed in the sky
Is a container of hopes unlived
Reminding you to keep your promise
Seems so shallow and cruel
As a container of hopes unlived
For the benefit of the world
It seems so shallow and cruel
That I really couldn’t believe it when I heard.
Shalom.
Prompted by Verse in a Nutshell, "Memories"
Keep the “everlasting covenant” first describe in Genesis 9:16 and mentioned again in Isaiah 24:5, “The earth mourns and withers, the world fades and withers, the exalted of the people of the earth fade away. The earth is also polluted by its inhabitants, for they transgressed laws, violated statutes, broke the everlasting covenant. Therefore, a curse devours the earth, and those who live in it are held guilty. ” God made a covenant with us to not destroy the whole earth because of man, but we are the ones who break it. We are the ones who crucify.
Yes, we are the ones who break it. But, the rainbow is the reminder to God…not to people…not to destroy the earth again. Doesn’t that seem odd?
And, isn’t it shallow and cruel? What we have allowed to happen to people, to God, to Jesus, to the earth, to the cosmos? It is a double edged knife.

Rainbows are an immediate lift to my spirit … always full of wonder, of hope and of the everlasting promise! I find it interesting as well – the colors of the rainbow correlate with our chakras also!!!
