Beloved
Your embrace is enslaving my heart
Enrapturing my soul and pulling me close
Reflecting the cosmos’ infinite abundance
The light of the world wooing her love
Enrapturing my soul and pulling me close
Whispering sweet nothings of service and devotion
The light of the world wooing her loves
Enslaved to all in freedom’s universal dance
Whispering sweet nothings of service and devotion
Reflecting the cosmos’ infinite abundance
Enslaved to all in freedom’s universal dance
Your embrace is enslaving my heart
Today is “Harriet Tubman Day.” Tubman was abolitionist. She helped many slaves escape to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Reflect on slavery, in whatever form.

It is refreshing to read your poem of the slavery of love, specially as I have just read Lolamouse’s chilling political outcry.
Quite a different take on slavery than I composed, eh? I love it! I especially love the line “enrapturing my soul and pulling me close…” What a joyful poem!
To be enslaved by love is the best kind of bondage! Nice!
Forgot my submission,lol: http://thewaytoshaolin.blogspot.com/2011/03/cinquain-for-march-challenge-slavery.html
Enslaved by love you have no voice,
You follow where heart lost the choice,
And give all the love you have within,
A slave of passion, the best way to begin.
I keep wondering if the greatest freedom is following love. And in following love, devotedly, it appears as if freedom is lost.
Well said !
Great, Dan. Ya gotta love that.
when it is a good one … held captive by love is intriguing! becca
Intoxicating take on the prompt, Bravo!

Just wanted to let you know I probably won’t be able to “play” until next Tuesday. I have a “Magpie Tale” poem with “garlic” as the prompt to complete and a busy weekend. I might try to fit on of your themes into One Shoot Sunday. We will see! Thanks for hosting! and I will be checking the others work out. 😉
A very interesting take on slavery – I particularly like ‘Enrapturing my soul and pulling me close’. A lovely line.

Thank you! And yes, pantoum (which I love!!).
I suppose one could write about their feelings on slavery. It is an emotional subject in any of its connotations. This is the best I could do on short notice. For some reason I have fallen behind and always rushing to catch up.

Totally okay, Mike! I feel like I’m on the verge of totally falling behind myself.
A lovely posting on the ONLY acceptable form of slavery, slavery-of-the-heart. It is entered into willingly.
Starting to fall behind, but here is this one –
