Laundry Day

I don't like doing laundry.  It never ends.  So to add interest today, as I am sorting laundry, I practice my nascent Spanish.  Calcetines rosados.. jeans azules.. camisa azul y blanca..  La camisa de mi esposo está vieja.  As I practice and practice it begins to dawn on me the magnitude of what I am doing.  As I name each article of clothing in Spanish, I begin to gain gratitude for the clothing in my life.  I am well clothed in materials and colors that I love.  And I am doing laundry with a washer and dryer in my home.  Then I will put them away in my closet and my dresser to keep them safe and neat.  What an array of riches I complain about every laundry day!  I feel gratitude and a bit chagrined at  my blindness to these treasures not all in this world can claim.

"Life is a succession of lessons which must be lived to be understood."

-Helen Keller

What everyday riches are you grateful for today?
