Look at the birds of the air; they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Creator feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? (Matthew 6:26, Christian Scripture)
We are in a crisis of shame. This is causing us to live a life of psychological scarcity. This leads to the idea that nothing is enough. Including ourselves. We are not enough. They are not enough. Nobody and nothing is enough, including our G*d. When things become so very small, the tendency is to clamp down immediately and control the things you can control--for ourselves and for others. Living a life of an abundant G*d, where grace flows like anointing oil from your head all the way to your toes, requires an image of a G*d so big that we are happy with enough--there's more than enough for ourselves and for others.
