Simple Truths

by Kathleen Tenpas

Kathleen is featured at This is what they had to say:

“When she included in her directions the fact that the barn is painted like a quilt, I knew exactly where she lived, having driven past that barn many times (and wondered about the person who would do such a bold and beautiful thing). If it hadn’t been quite so snowy, I might have gotten a picture of that barn!

She lives with her husband in the farmhouse and has two studios, lucky woman! Downstairs on top of the freezer, next to the windows built to be a greenhouse, she paints fabrics, adding designs with natural objects she has collected and pressed and dried. I was delighted that she let me play!”

We would see beyond the stars
to the beginnings of time
measure all things
and know the weight of the soul.
Curious and thirsting,
we look in the dark space
above and within, seeking
what cannot be found
but in the light.
We wait now
in the dark
of the year,
in the dark

what can come
only through faith.

Simple truths
are hardest:
that All began
as thought, as spark
as candle flame

in the mind
of God.

11 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.Indeed, by faith our ancestors received approval. By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible.
