Mandala Journey: Circle of Star Stuff

Circle of Star Stuff

Circle of Star Stuff

The circle of life, the star stuff, all connected Ubuntu-I am because we are (African theology).  Thoughts swirl in my cranky head today as I wonder where Christianity has led us to.  A place where the "other" (the hungry, homeless, orphan, widow, and alien) are things to be prosecuted, locked up, and derided.  The trite question of WWJD, what would Jesus do?, can only be answered by, "he would be pissed off!"  I bet there are some sacred tables that Jesus would like to overturn.  I'm annoyed today because of the coalescence of four things:  (1) no finance system reform, (2) Arizona persecuting brown skin, (3)  realization that I don't fit at my church, and (4) my auto mechanic has been lying to me for 5 years now.  Big deals to little deals = cranky Terri.

But, there is hope.  The hope is in all of this star stuff that connects us together.  The new creation story.  Billions of years ago, the cosmos was created in a blinding explosion that hurled matter to the limits of humanity.  That matter is still here today.  It is in the oldest rocks.  The fossilized skeleton.  The ancient alligator.  And in the newborn baby.  That matter connects us all together in a web of life and sacred star stuff that feels the heartbeat of  the cosmos.  How can I hurt you or ignore you if we have the same heartbeat?

A French Pantoum Poem.

Journey with me through a creative experience over the next bit where I use mandalas and a specific exercise in “The Mandala Workbook” by Fincher and “Praying with the Elements” by Christine Valters Paintner of Abbey of the Arts.
