Black Friday

hear those bells ringing?
jingling?
portending days of joy?

fat cats
eating mice for breakfast
rabbits for lunch
baby wrens for dinner
proclaiming the good news
of sales and fear

mama works her skeletal
fingers on designer jeans
forced to eat off of the floor

two bits
a dollar
the widow's mite
stolen by
black Friday

a reflection on the biggest holiday shopping day of the year.  stay home and love each other instead.
