Way of the Monk, Path of the Artist

How Do I Get There?
Well, it has been a long time since I have written very much.  It is a combination of needing rest and well, needing rest.  Currently I am taking a class at Abbey of the Arts with Christine Paintner.  We created wisdom cards as one of our first exercises.  The idea behind wisdom cards is that you ask yourself significant questions and then go about creating art with these questions in mind.  In this case, my questions were:
  • Where is my path?
  • How do I get there?
  • What are the obstacles?

The questions were developed and randomly put on the backs of the art canvases.  So the creations are then coupled to the questions in a way unknown by the author/artist.

The response, in mixed media (watercolor and collage) is:

Where is my path?
What are the obstacles?
How Do I Get There?

Terri, I love the idea about wisdom cards and these paintings are such beautiful expressions of your current searching. Keep on kicking the can down the road kid. Hugs

Do I understand correctly, that you made the image not knowing what you wrote on the back of that particular canvas? Very intriguing "answers."

Yes, you've got it! I did the images without the questions. It was fun and disconcerting.
