March 4: Politics, Government, Structures of Power

Iraq War Amputee William 'Spanky' Gibson
Iraq War Amputee William 'Spanky' Gibson

war

reality thickens,
becoming an impenetrable
     forest
of eyes watching or an
     ocean
of vertiginous goo slowing
     every decision,
   every step,
every agony.
     as hawks parade
on the capitol steps
celebrating my ruin.
     limbs left in the desert
sands,
     a feast for carrion.

March 4:  On this day in 1789, Congress met for the first time. Reflect on politics, government, structures of power

Governments make decisions based on population, power, money, and doing good. The government gets power from doing good for the population that has money. The veteran standing next to the plaque says more than a thousand words. And your poem has many phrases that are vivid and memorable, very well done.

This was a toughie - especially as I like to keep it light as a rule. So, here's my response - and thanks! http://1ightverse.blogspot.com/2011/03/ruses-galore.html
