March 26: Make Up Your Own Holiday

if i could
create a day
where all the world
stopped
and simply turned
to each other
and offered
love,
i would.

no christmas trees
but magnolias
no poinsettias
but roses
no reindeer
but bunnies
lounging in the
sun
relaxing on the
grass.

a fantasy land
where love and
goodwill
pervades the land
of green, green grasses
and warmth invades
our bones
not just from the
sun
but from the loving
kindness flowing from
heart
to
heart.

lovemas.

Earlier this month, in response to a prompt from Big Tent Poetry, I made up my own holiday. It's most definitely a fantasy holiday, since it's called: All My Gizmos Are Working Day. Needless to say, I wrote a limerick in honor of that imaginary day. :)

Great holiday. I'm all for it, how do we get it placed on the calendar?

As far as I can tell, it doesn't take much to get weirder holidays approved!

Kind of sad that we would need a special day to celebrate love!

What a super cool prompt! I penned 3 of 'em...one is actually a real holiday today, one is bad (and fake) and the third is fun (and also fake.) Thanks! http://1ightverse.blogspot.com/2011/03/unlimted-holidays.html
