    I always expect great haiku from you, but you exceeded yourself today. I believe this is your best during the challenge. For some reason I found this to be exceptionally powerful. I believe it to be THE best of the challenge.

    i love this haiku and it is a great pic, too. i live in the desert and, indeed, even the snakes and lizards seek whatever shade they can or go underground during the hottest part of the day. very nice.
